Recycling Initiatives
Bakels partners with local recyclers and encourage our customers to recycle their packaging and waste materials. Listed below are a range of recycling initiatives and services in Australia to support us based on material type:
- Strongly encouraged to separate paper and cardboard packaging from other waste and use dedicated recycling bins. This step is essential for proper recycling processes.
- Most of Bakels’ cardboard box packaging contains at least 49% recycled content, and features the recycling mobius loop symbol, indicating its recyclability. Consequently, our packaging is widely accepted for recycling at paper and cardboard facilities across Australia.
📍 Sydney: Grima recycling facility.
- Bakels soft plastics packaging is made of LDPE (Low-Density -Polyethylene) or HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene), both recyclable materials.
- Contact your local council, recycling facilities, or relevant authorities for accurate and up-to-date acceptance on recycling these materials.
- Bakels rigid plastics packaging is made of PP (polypropylene) – a recyclable material classified as “5”. PP is widely accepted by recycling facilities.

- Recyclable when cleaned and drained properly to remove any residue.
- Contact local metal recyclers and your local council for appropriate recycling options.

The mobius loop is displayed on most of our cardboard packaging to indicate that it is recyclable.
We advise customers to check with their local authority’s guidelines on recycling before disposing of this product as it does not take into account the recycling infrastructure and recycling practices of different regions.

Bakels is a signatory to the Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO). As a member of the APCO, we are continuously working to improve the sustainability of our packaging through better collaboration, improved design, and the use of more environmentally friendly materials to reduce waste in landfill.
